About The Author

Bob Steffens is a storyteller, adventurer, and lifelong learner. His life has been one of incredible diversity, filled with moments of awe and resilience.
Growing up in Oregon’s woods, deserts, and coastal regions, Bob cultivated a deep connection with nature that shaped his outlook on life. His 30-year career in the military and aerospace industries included pioneering work on early satellite reconnaissance efforts, while his subsequent decade in the utilities industry saw him helping public utilities and cooperatives implement modern systems.
Bob’s professional journey was grounded in research and technical writing, a passion that ultimately led him to pursue creative writing after retirement. Returning to school in his late 70s for his Masters (Go Beavs!), he embraced storytelling as a way to share the lessons of his life.

About The Book

Such is Life?” is a memoir that touches on some of the extraordinary events in the author’s life, both sweet and bitter, during his youth in Oregon’s outback among nature’s wonders, then with his first partner as they walked across his military/aerospace and professional worlds, and now with his second partner as they trek into his final season. These extraordinary experiences, gratifying ones that graced Bob Steffens’ life and agonizing ones that caused pause, shaped his resolute and positive outlook of “it’s okay, we can get past this.” The book’s subtitle, “Framing a Positive ‘Next’ Mindset in the Wake of Life’s Setbacks”, speaks to a primary message Bob wishes to share with his readers. Although not of Native American heritage, Bob adopted indigenous customs and the notion of how any of us might apply their resolve as we overcome grief and grow into an enriched life afterward – a principal theme of “Such is Life?

I Hope This Book Comes in Spanish

I really like what this book is about and I want to read it, but my English is not very good because Spanish is my first language. I hope author can make this book in Spanish also, so me and many people from Spanish community can read it. We like this type of books very much and I think many people will support it.
